Watkins Street salutes FDNY War Years legend, Lt. George Guinan 4th, who recently passed to a higher level. A true Patriot who served both the City of New York and in United States Navy. George was assigned to Engine 231 in 1960 and was promoted to Lieutennant in 1974.
As a firefighter, he worked on Watkins Street during the height of the busiest years of fire duty the FDNY and Brownsville has ever seen. An exceptional firefighter, he was both teacher and mentor to all that came after him.
The Officers & Members of E231/L120/Bn44 thank Lt. Guinan for doing his part helping establish the fine reputation our FDNY enjoys today. He was a Watkins Street Hall of Famer whose presence will be felt within our firehouse for generations to come.
