For the first time ever Watkins Street will play for the championship in the King Of The Ice Hockey Tournament this Saturday March 24th against E90L41 of the Bronx. Game time is set for 930AM sharp at the Nassau Coliseum in what shapes up to be an exciting day as the annual FDNYNYPD hockey game follows at 1PM. The entire 44 Bn will be having a tailgate party between games. Please contact Watkins Street for details and sign up as we are expecting a big turnout since the weather may even cooperate and we are trying to gauge numbers for food and refreshments. The semi-final win saw Watkins St. jump out to an early lead behind an aggressive offensive assault led by E231 members Brian Winzer Brian Bollinger Lt. Andy Serra and the Captain Bobby Higgins who had 2 goals in the 7-1 victory over E156L79. Lt Rob Brown and Rob Petrarca of L120 rounded out the scoring. Brian Cross Capt John Calamari Lt. Brown and Higgins pressured the defense throughout as they spread the ice. Not to be overlooked was the hustle and unselfish play as key minutes were logged by third line players Eric Schmanski Jason Gaetani Eddie Kerwick and Mike Meyer. Goalie Kevin Smith L120 again was stellar in the net and the defensive corps of John Ostraticky Greg Chero Charlie Masterson and Petrarca played a disciplined game as they kept pressure to a minimum. To the Watkins Street oldtimers and buffaloes – bring the kids and the grandkids and come on out on Saturday morning and root the team on – REFRESHMENTS ARE ON US
